September 2022 we started with paid special events, in 2023 we added PayPal as a payment gateway to automate things and make the experience more user friendly and more manageable on our end.
But the downside to PayPal are the relatively high fees that go to PayPal. So in order to keep the costs to a minimum for everyone, as of today, we are also supporting IBAN payments.
On the checkout page for paid events you will have have the option to choose if you'd like to pay via IBAN or PayPal. The PayPal button will display the additional fees. When choosing the IBAN option you get a QR code which can be scanned with a SEPA compatible banking app. Alternatively you can also manually transfer the money to the banking details below the QR code.
One small quirk, because the system is not automated and instant, you still have to press an additional button to reserve your spot in the event. Once the payment has arrived we will then confirm your reservation and your spot in the event is save.
