Secret event reveal

Teejo Teejo September 16, 2019

We have teased you with our secret event, we have revealed some spoilers to tickel you even more. But now we can not hide it from you any longer. In this post we're going to tell you all about our secret event.

It's a dropping!

Okay, so that probably didn't help a lot to clearify so let me explain;
'Dropping' is a dutch tradition where are group (mostly teenagers) get blindfolded, loaded into a van and then left all by themselves somewhere in the forest. Oh! And this all is happening after sunset, so no sunlight!
Then the group has to find their way to a central meeting point. This usually is accomplished by starting wakling in a direction untill they hit a point that's familiar. Or navigation by seeing where citylights are reflected on clouds and head that way.

For our first dropping event wewe're going to make it a bit more easier but are also adding a orienteering element. The event will be held during the day, so you have all the light you need to not trip over any tree roots or sticks on the ground.

Okay, so tell me more!

We are going to drop you in the forest with a map and compass. On the map will be two markings, your start position and the central meeting point (finish). It is up to you and your teammates to navigate with the map and compass from point A to point B.

Teams
I've mentioned it before, you are not alone in this. Depending on the number of participants you will be grouped into teams of max. 4 people.
Each team will be accompanied by a hike leader. The hike leader is there to help you out when you're completely lost or have questions.

Navigation
Don't know how to use a map and compass? No worries. We will give you a crash course on how to find your way.

Competition & points
As revealed in one of the updates it is a competition. So multiple teams will battle eachother for the troffee of Bayreuth Mountain Club dropping champoion 2019! It is not purely a race, so first across the finishline doesn't make you the automatic winning team.
The winner will be determined by a score. Each team starts off with a basescore and points will be added and subtracted for specific things. The team with the most points at the end wins!
Time does play a role so the faster you move the more points you get. But get lost and have to ask the hikeleader for direction? No problem, but that will cost you points. So make sure to keep a close eye on the map so you don't get lost.

Routes
The whole event will take place in the Fichtelgibirge area. There are multiple routes, one for each group. They all start in different places but finish in the same spot. Where exactly will be revealed when your team receives their maps. As for difficulty, the routes are quite short and with a good pace can all be completed within 2 hours. But that's assuming your find the right way without any hiccups of course.

Finish
At the finish we will be waiting for you with drinks and food as a rewards of your hard work. When all teams have finished we will calculate all the points, announce the winner of the event and hand our the troffee!

One more thing: Cellphones or GPS devices are NOT allowed!
