Wrap Up
This weekend we set off on a exciting route with many caves to explore. The weather was great, the crowd was well humored and backpacks packed for a day outdoors. We took the morning train to Pegnitz and started our adventure from the train station.
The first section of the hike was not as spectacular since we had to get out of Pegnitz first but after a good 6 km hike we arrived on the edge of the forest. There we followed a straight path briefly before taking a left turn into the adventure, the mossy forest floor and trees all around us started.
It was nog long before we came across many, many, edible mushrooms ans exciting caves to explore. We even found a geo-cache and left a note for the next cachers. We explored a few shallow and one quite a bit deeper cave with out flashlights, discussed the rock materials and formations before heading back to Pegnitz again.
Since we hiked from cave to cave we lost track of distance and once back in Pegnitz we had walked a whopping 27 km. With tired legs and minds from all the impressions we took the train back to Bayreuth to enjoy our evenings.
I hope everyone enjoyed the hike, we had some regular faces and a few new ones which is always great to see! Check out the 98 photos from the hike below and see you next time!
